Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 Leaks Hint at Controversial Camera Redesign

And There’s Chipset News Too

The highly anticipated Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 is inching closer to its rumored launch date, and the latest leak surrounding this flagship foldable device provides a glimpse of a rather controversial redesign of the rear camera module.

The leak originates from the well-known and usually reliable tipster Ice Universe (via SamMobile), and the photo posted reveals the top portion of the camera setup on the back of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6.

The New Camera Design

The most noticeable change is the ridged design around the individual camera lenses. Instead of the metal trim used on the Galaxy Z Fold 5, Samsung seems to have opted for black plastic. However, this aesthetic choice has raised eyebrows, with some calling it “cheap and completely out of place” for a flagship phone.

Modest Camera Upgrade?

The redesign might be an intentional move by Samsung to divert attention from rumors that the Galaxy Z Fold 6’s cameras will only offer a modest upgrade over its predecessor. While any improvement is welcome, previous leaks had hinted at a major bump in camera specifications. Whether this design change will impact the overall camera performance remains to be seen.

Additional Specs

In addition to the camera design, the same source has previously shared another angle of the rear camera and a closely cropped shot of the selfie camera on the front cover screen. Recently, the tipster also leaked a mockup comparing the front of the Z Fold 6 to its predecessor, the Z Fold 5.

Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 Chipset

Separately, SamMobile has spotted a fresh benchmark that could be attributed to the European version of the Z Fold 6. According to the benchmark, the device is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, suggesting that this CPU will be used across all global markets for the foldable device.

Exynos vs. Snapdragon

Samsung has previously experimented with using its own Exynos processors instead of Snapdragon silicon in other flagship devices, depending on the country of sale. However, it appears that the Z Fold 6 will stick with Snapdragon. Whether the same holds for the Z Flip 6 remains to be seen.

Unveiling and Other Gadgets

All will be revealed soon, as rumors point to a grand unveiling of the foldables at a Samsung Unpacked event scheduled for Wednesday, July 10. Alongside the Z Fold 6, we can expect to see other exciting gadgets, including the Samsung Galaxy Ring and the Samsung Galaxy Watch 7.
